Call’n all Cowboys, Cowgirls, Outlaws, Soiled Doves and Townsfolk!
Have you ever thought about reenactments? Or have you thought about educating children about firearm or gun safety or wanted to get involved in the communities which we all live in? Well Pard, this is the group for you!
The Nevada Gunfighters Theatrical Troupe is headquartered in Carson City and has been performing in and around Northern Nevada and California for over 40 years. Our team comes from both near and far to entertain at fairs, parades, festivals, dinners and events. The group is comprised of men, women and kids from time to time, the family is always welcome! Joining us is easy, just ask!
First and foremost – You have to love the Old West and want to have fun with a great group of people!
Our group is a theater performing group, or acting troupe, who travel to our different events and perform our skits and gun safety shows to people like yourselves. Many of us came out of the audience to be a part of this “reenacting” experience. So what does this mean? We are Wild West Performers and we invite you to join us!
There are several different things to think about when joining a group like ours. Our group is a 501c3 non-profit group, so our performers are all volunteer and do not get paid to perform. The group does receive donations from the events we perform at, however the money received from performing at shows goes into a general treasury fund which pays for ammunition, sound systems, the set maintenance and the cost of the trailers to haul our set.
Membership is free however there is a small yearly fee of $35 for individuals and $45 for families, this covers the cost of your “reenactors” insurance. We use professionally made ammunition for everyone’s safety. Our group does not allow any reloading of blank ammunition to be used on set. The Rimfire Town Marshal inspects all firearms before every show and no “live” or “real” ammunition is permitted on set at any time.
The other thing to think of is the cost of costuming!
Our main goal is to have fun, however we do like to dress in period clothing for the time period 1860-1890’s, so it will be necessary to invest in clothing of that era. Before investing large amounts of money, talk to us, we are happy to give you different websites and pointers to buy the right outfits. We have been doing this along time and have found ways to play for less money.
Firearms / Guns!
Firearms, we use old west guns and it will be necessary for you to have a period firearm. There are several relatively inexpensive guns that you can purchase. Talk to any of us if you are unsure what to purchase. We supply several different calibers of professionally manufactured ammunition so it is important to coordinate with us about your firearms.
Time and travel expectations!
As mentioned we travel to shows in and around Northern Nevada and California and our busy season is March-October. Most of our performances are multi-day events, with a few one-day events sprinkled in throughout the year. We make home and work life a number one priority in our group and do our best to work around life’s obligations as much as we can. Our goal is for everyone to have fun and attend as many of the shows as possible and understand a person may not be able to attend an entire 4 or 5-day event, but if you can at least attend a part of the show it makes for a better show for all.
We believe rehearsals make us better performers, keeping home and work life in mind, we tend to have a couple rehearsals in the off months to keep our skills sharp, to write new skits and conduct business meetings. But more importantly… we like our group of friends and want an excuse to go hang out with each other.
The train is coming down the tracks, we hope you flag us down and join The Nevada Gunfighters!
